KA229 Fostering Entrepreneurship
through Multicultural Exchange
Estonia - Luxembourg - Croatia - Romania
Our Economics and Administration High School (Ekonomska i upravna škola Split) was founded in 1905 and it represents a vocational training school, encompassing four years of education and training, aiming to prepare students for the following
professions: economist, administrative officer and business secretary. It also provides an additional class tailored for perspective athletes who intend to become economists.
Our school staff counts around 90 teachers, 4 expert associates, 11 members of the
technical and service staff and around 860 students in 40 classes.
Besides the education for the mentioned professions our school also offers adult education (vocational training programmes and requalification).
The prime goal of our school is to recognize the needs of the labour market and prepare the students for it, so we tend to upgrade the ICT skills through vocational training. We have been persistent in our goals to educate and bring out the
best of our students, not only through educational programmes, but also through a rich variety of school activities, and that’s why our school participates in different projects of the local community, charity activities, professional and sports competitions and many social events. Our school was the host of national competitions “Young Entrepreneur” and “Fair of Training Firms”.
During the school year 2016/2017 our students took part in the mobility programme, which was organised by the BHV Education, and thereafter in three eTwinning projects: “Tradion Nutriton”, “Students - Educated New Age Consumers” and
“Smart Phone and Social Media Addiction”.
We are proud of our FINAME PRO project, which encourages the development of the competences necessary for the successful lifelong learning and the challenges of modern society, financed by the ESF (European Social Fund). The goals of
the project were to develop two curriculums for the implementation of optional lessons: ”Management of Personal Finances” and “Media in Modern Society”, but also to implement the extracurricular activity “Project Management”. Besides the improvement of the students and teachers’ competences, the project supplied our classrooms with necessary equipment.
The teaching staff, students and parents strongly believe that there is still a huge space to improve the school’s recognisability on the local and international level. We would like to encourage the teachers and students’ intercultural awareness, upgrade the theoretical knowledge and practical skills, as well as to develop and improve the language and communication competences.
